Fear for our lives

Creates flight

Concern for our safety

Breeds caution and care

Our senses are heightened

Our hearts attuned to each moment of our shared existence

Facing mortality together

Increases compassion

Despair over inexplicable loss

Ushers in confusion, anger, aggression, and chaos

We seek revenge in our quest for balance

And we fall

But after the fall comes the rise

The debris clears and we begin to look…up

In the time that has passed

We see the rays of light

Flickering and illuminating new pathways

We move and swim towards its warmth

Coming up for air

We reach fearlessly for each other along the way

We ascend towards the exuberant blessing of our lives
